HAPPY Wednesday! It's almost Christmas and Hanukkah began yesterday! I am excited that you all have been playing along even in this very busy time of year! SO I have decided to do an "easier" ISSUE challenge for you this week mostly because I know you will be getting NEW scrappy supplies to play with so I want to give you a little more free reign to do that!
Something I love to do every year is I pick one of my kids to get a scavenger hunt gift.. you know clues leading them from here to there in search of a great treasure!
This CHALLENGE is all about finding little treasures... I actually had this idea during the LAST ISSUE but decided to hold off until this week! SOOO are you ready?
I ISSUE THIS CHALLENGE: Pick at least three things in the entire magazine that inspired you and put them on one layout, card or altered item...the twist, you have to put the page numbers you found your inspiration and PLEASE tell me what inspired you.. for example
ON my layout
I used 5 things as inspiration, but you can use just three but as you are looking through the magazine, I promise, you will begin to pick up more and more ideas... I know I could have kept going but I had to stop or the ISSUE challenge this week would not have gotten out.. NOW remember have fun looking for your treasures!
So I just want to also encourage you invite friends to join our new challenge the Thanks Living Challenge will officially kick off on the 1st of January--- AND this is the last Challenge for NOV/DEC -- because next Wednesday falls on the 28th -- PLUS then I get to pick the winners for NOV and DEC Issue Challenges sooner - Like Tuesday the 27th
I know I will say this again.. but have a very Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukah/ Kawanza or Festivis (hehe - Sienfeld fans will totally understand that!)
I love you guys!
Blessings

Here's mine.
1. I was inspired by sketch variation 1 on page 28 - it worked perfectly for 3 vertical and 1 horizonal photo, and I thought it would be interesting to put the journaling on top and the title in the middle, like the sketch has.
2. I LOVE the looped border on the front cover, and I was lucky enough to recieve that punch from my Secret Santa.
3. I love the layered borders on page 68, so I used several border punches (and some ribbon from Hope).
4. I thought the decorated border on page 52 was really cute - so I added some gems to the frame on the top photo.
Thanks Erika - this was fun!!!
I decided on doing a card this week so I would be sure to get it in this time!
1.) I was inspired by the tree sketch on pg.55
2.) I need a little something for this green cardstock, so pg 56, I saw they used white chalk to look a little frosty/snowy! (not sure it did for my card :/)
3.) On pg. 86, I loved the idea of punching out decorative tape so I did that to make my tree.
There you have it! All wrapped up before Christmas :)
Thanks Erika for a great challenge once again!
LO's completed in 2012: 23/175, total cards: 14/30, Christmas cards 0/15
Books read: 5/50
2011 LO's: 154; Total cards 2011: 13
I had this LO completed for the weekly challenge to use ribbons as background paper, but then tweaked it to qualify for the Issue challenge and I have to say I love all the additions. Thanks Erika! (Love your LO and great picture too!)
· 1) Page 46 shows beautiful glittered leaves…I added colored Glitter Glue to my flowers which really adds sparkle to their beauty!
· 2) Pages 50 & 54 have twined wrapped through the end of photos…this is a technique I see often on Robyn’s LOs and I love it but forget to use it on my own pages. I added matching colored twine to anchor my two photos and centered it with a matching button…such a fun addition!
· 3) Page 51 has journaling on strips of paper…this is a great technique for journaling a list of items!
· 4) Pages 64 & 67 shows twine tied through buttons…I love buttons and the twine is a great enhancement to this embellishment!

Great LO Merry - saw it on the weekly challenge post also - love the twine & button - I am going to try that too!
Erika! I had SUCH fun doing this challenge. It's so easy to do a scraplift from just one layout but to go through the magazine finding bits and pieces you like from different ones and putting them together is a real treat! Never even thought to to it LOL! Thanks for the motivation! You rock!
Picture from Feb 2001 - Anthony, 18 months
My inspirations:
p14 - CK & Me - use parentheses in design
p24 - Happy Winter - "falling snowflakes"
p44 - Happy Hanukkah - blue & purple color scheme
p47 - Holiday Spirit article - blinged snowflakes
p54 - Family Craft - I liked the pop of the red button
Happy Scrapping!

Throwdown Lottery Goal - 15
Throwdown Lottery DONE - 3
So cute Anne Marie - love all the "Z's" and the title is just perfect for the pic!
When I read the Jan/Feb 2012 issue, the quote on page 40 caught my eye immediately. I had been wanting to create a page about how my boyfriend and I dance everywhere, including parking lots and in the middle of stores. If the music is right, we just start doing it. And over the years, people have photographed us dancing, so I had 10 years worth of photographs from which to choose. This quote was just what I needed to jump start me.
The sentiment "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance" is from page 40.
Page 60 inspired the use of a calender - and I stamped a heart around the date that we had met. The sheet music is a song that we both love from the 60s - it is "our song".
The original plan was to take the prints from color to black and white and then use greys, blacks, whites and burgundys for my color scheme. But when I saw the shades of pink used on page 97, I chose the rose color. That prompted me to use the turquoise, rose, cream and black colors in the layout on page 95.
This is my first submission. I hope you like it.

I've been sooooo MIA on the challenges I hope I get to do this one. The past month has been crazy......I can't wait to get back to regular challenges again. I have to make a card for the in-laws for Christmas, so maybe I will do this.
My Blog
Hope you have a happy scrappy new year!
I loved this challenge! There are a lot of ideas in the mags; even not part of the article subject! I liked the corrugated flower on the cover so I ran my stars through my crimper. It gave them a nice texture. Then I loved the little wrapped presents (I actually did them on another Christmas layout too) on page 51, so I added some of these under the trees. Finally, I liked how Megan Hoeppner tied her tag off on a brad on page 66, so I did that too! And I got my last Christmas of 2010 scrapped before Christmas 2011! Bonus. I used this month's SS sketch too. It was perfect!
