Shadow Boxes make great gifts! Wanted to share what I created this year for Christmas 2012!!

My friend finally picked up his 5 Shadowbox gifts and he loved them...kept saying over and over how pleased he was with how they turned out. I'm so happy he was happy with them! Just had to get a picture!! The pictures are from the 80th birthday celebration of his mom and aunt who are twins! The 12x12 is for his mom and the 8x8's are for his brothers and himself!

I made these in 8x8 frames for my step-sisters in memory of our beloved Dad who recently passed:

This one was for my step-mom of her great granddaughters in hopes she'd see it and smile to help with her recent loss of 45 years with my Dad:

This one I created for my sister-in-law (the girls' gramma), but my niece liked the idea so much she wanted to make one of her own to give to her mom using this picture! Now I get to keep this one for myself of my great nieces! I am planning to use a white 8x8 shadowbox frame for this one:

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful comments. I'm so glad I have a place to share this project with scrappy friends who appreciate the work and love that goes into each page!

To Lorri...being scraplifted is an honor...happy to be an inspiration for you! The info on each animal is a picture of the sign that is available at each exhibit. Also I included lots of the Zoo's postcards which is a sure thing for an excellent picture (at least until I have a good zoom camera and can take pictures like Heidi!)

We did visit our granddaughter Saturday night and I was pleased that she actually looked through the whole album two times and was able to name most of the animals (I think in most part thanks to "The Lion King" & "Madagascar" movies!). My goal was to make it educational in hopes that everytime she looks at it, she'll learn additional facts and info on all the animals. (P.S. I made an Album of Colors for her awhile back and that really helped her learn her colors!)

My Thoughts On Journaling

I am a believer that “A Picture Is worth a Thousand Words” and do not feel the need to journal on every LO. I don’t state the obvious…do I really need to journal, “it was a sunny, snowy day and we had big smiles while playing in the snow”…take great pictures and that story will come across. IF future generations look at the entire scrapbook, they will get the whole story since my scrapbooks are typically theme-based and are more of a storybook, than a story-page.

However, I can journal with the best of them and do feel it is important…but is totally dependent on the pictures and what memories I choose to remember and share with future generations. For me, scrapping is therapeutic and it would be just too much pressure to have to journal every little thing! It is a bonus and a hope that my creations will be appreciated by future generations, but that is not the #1 reason why I scrapbook.

I do want to thank Dana though for her Journaling Challenges. Her goal is to challenge us to journal in new and more meaningful ways...and I'm all for that...so thank you Dana!

Posted 25 pictures of the wedding album I created for my step-daughter. I stressed over this album for 2 years not knowing how to begin and first having to sort through 1000+ digital pictures. The photos don't do the album justice because you can't see all the silver glitter or the raised focal pictures and raised Bible verses and other inspirational sayings. What helped with its flow though is staying with the same style and elements. I only used the wedding colors of Red, Silver, Black & White and lots of silver glitter brads. I look forward to hearing any and all comments from my scrapbooker friends who know first hand the time, money and love that went into this album (I don't feel my step-daughter truly appreciated my efforts-fully expected her to shed a few tears but nada...and I definitely didn't offer to take this on...she asked me!!). I find creating albums for others a bit stressful vs the relaxation I experience when I do LOs for me. I'd be interested in hearing how others feel when making albums for others. Thank you!

Emily's Book of Colors

I posted the Yellow page of my "Emily's Book of Colors" creation for this week's challenge and had such nice comments, I decided to share photos of the entire book. One page just doesn't do the book justice. Check them out in my gallery.

To Gloria...Your comment was what sparked me to do this. What started out as something quick and easy, turned into something much more elaborate and expensive...but oh it was so much fun putting together and even more fun watching granddaughter's enjoyment in looking at it time after time.
