Contest #35: Create a faux fabric edge on your scrapbook page (closed)

One of the great things about paper is that you can mimic the looks of other materials with very little effort. Take Davinie Fiero's scrapbook page, for example. A little crumpled paper adds a cozy, fabric-like touch that's easy for you to duplicate on your own pages. Give it a try with different patterns and colors to enhance the theme of your layout. Or punch difference borders into your crumpled paper to create a bold or sweet fabric look.

Sweetness by Davine Fiero from 101+ Creative Ways to Use Your Scrapbook Supplies

Here's how to create your own faux fabric for your scrapbook page.

1. Cut edge of paper strip using decorative scissors.

2. Spritz your paper strip with water.

3. Crumple paper. Uncrumple and allow to dry. Repeat as desired.

Here's what to do to enter:

1.  Create a layout with a faux fabric edge.

2. Upload a scan or photograph of your layout to the Club CK gallery. (Learn how to upload to the gallery here.)

3. Leave a comment below with the URL link to your layout posted in the Club CK gallery; for example, your comment could look like this: "My layout is posted here: http://clubcreatingkeepsakes.com/media/p/31086.aspx." Note: Previously uploaded layouts are not eligible; layouts must be posted on or after October 18, 2010 to be eligible.

Your comment must be left before 9:00 a.m. MST on Monday, November 1, 2010 to be considered for the contest. One winner will be randomly selected from all entries and receive some awesome supplies from Studio Calico. The announcement will be made at the bottom of this article.

Happy scrapbooking!

I was just looking at a card that I had made a long time ago and thought about adding some fabric to a scrapbook layout.  When I saw this technique I knew it was exactly what I am going to do this weekend.  Thanks for the inspiration.

Here is my take on it. I had fun doing this challenge! It was truly a challenge for me to wet something, crumple it up, and then use it on a layout, but the result was fabulous! The things you can learn when you step out of your comfort zone! :)

Did anyone else notice that the journaling strips are glued on in the wrong order on the sample layout?  I couldn't figure out why it didn't make any sense at first... I'm trying to find some girly pictures to give this idea a whirl.  Looks fun!
