Who doesn't love scrapbook accents that pop right off the page? Creating Keepsakes magazine is proud to present "Lovely Layering", a free scrapbooking class taught by CK Dream Team member Kim Watson. You'll follow along as Kim teaches you four simple layered accents using regular supplies you may already have on hand.

This fantastic hour-long class will take place on Saturday, August 11, at 11:00 am Mountain Daylight Time (that's 10:00 am Pacific, noon Central, and 1:00 pm Eastern) in the Club CK Classes & Chats forum (a new thread will be posted at 11:00 am when class begins).

Supplies Needed:

A variety of scallop circles
Buttons
Pennants, flags, or triangle punch
1 1/4" circle punch
Twine
Adhesive
Ribbons and lace
Sewing machine
Mixture of accents suitable for layering
Coffee filters or filter embellishments

CK Summer Camp 2012 (Day Four): Inspiration Board Challenge

Inspiration boards are such a great way to keep all of the random bits and pieces of inspiration you come across, organized and in one creative spot for viewing. There are so many different ways of creating an inspiration voard, so it's very easy to create something that fits your style and also fits the space you have.

You can hang a variety of clipboards on the wall and clip ideas onto each board. This would be a great idea if you were wanting to keep your ideas more categorized and separate, of if you wanted to give each member of the family a board of their own.

If you had a large wall space to work with, say above a desk, you could hang several thick wires across the wall, and hang inspirational items from there.

Or one of the more common types of inspiration boards is to use large bulletin boards, or even old frames, and either lean them against the wall or hang them up to use.

I decided to create my inspiration board by using a mix of the 2nd and 3rd images you see here. I took a few older frames that I happen to have laying around, spray painted them black, and added a 12x12 piece of cork to the inside of each frame. I looked for items I had handy around the house, and found some wire that I was able to string across the frame, securing each end with a metal thumbtack.

I hung colorful metal paperclips along each length of wire, so that my daughters could hang things that they love all over the "inspiration board".

You can paper craft your own inspiration board as well. I love how Kim Watson used a bit of chicken wire and mini clothes pins to create an inspiration board to celebrate her family's summer activities.

Your images and comments must be posted before 9:00 am MDT on Monday, July 30, 2012, to be considered for the contest. We apologize, but we are unable to ship internationally. December Pinterest Challenge

Pinterest is quickly becoming a very popular website for visual people. With the ability to "pin" any image you find online, users have the ability to visually bookmark and share tutorials, ideas, and images. Using an image that isn't necessary scrapbook related and creating a layout based on what you like about it is a very fun way to use the site. For this challenge that's exactly what you'll get to do!

Choose between one of the following images for inspiration. If you click on them it'll take you to the image on Pinterest. On Pinterest, images will link back to the original source. If images are removed from the original source, they will still remain on Pinterest. For my layout I used a little bit of all of these as inspiration.

I loved the stylish take on traditional Christmas colors & the Christmas lettering rocks!

These gorgeous mason jar lamps are so feminine & nostalgic, I just LOVE the flash of red on the white lace.

Christmas subway art. Perfect collage of words to jump start any Christmas themed page.

And a beautiful door wreath with a crafty vibe. The mixture of patterns & colors, as well as the strong 'star' shape became my overall design inspiration.
