My name is Laina Lamb and I am so excited to join Creating
Keepsakes today as a guest blogger. My day job is graphic design so typography
on my pages is a huge focus for me. I love fonts and how they can transform and
build on a page theme.
Ransom Note Journaling is a fun new trend. This technique
uses a combination of random type and various sized fonts to create a message.
What I love most about this style of journaling is that you can use up alphabet
stickers and chipboard that you already have on hand. Many of us have half used
alpha sheets that we can't bear to throw away. This is your chance to be
creative and thrifty!

Zombie Attack by Laina Lamb
For my layout title, I used a combination of chipboard
letters and diecut letters that I cut on my Silhouette machine. (Double Feature
downloaded from dafont.com).
Mixing fonts in your title can be a great way to support your page theme. You
could also use the Ransom Note style in your title by using all different
letter types.

To create my journaling spot, I started with a journaling
spot from this month's Journaling Solution's Freebie (you can download them for
yourself right here - http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/articles/Free_Ransom_Note_Journaling_Download) I wanted the word "Candy" to be most
prominent so I used different sizes, types, and colors of alphas from my
sticker stash. I adhered them to the card with pop dots for additional
dimension.
It's easy to mix up your on- hand alphas for journaling and
titles! I hope you are inspired to try this technique in today's one-hour challenge!
To participate in this challenge, just create a layout, card, or other project
featuring the Ransom Note Style. (see below for details).
Enjoy the challenge and thanks for letting share my ideas!

Love the look of ransom note journalling. I did all mine on the computer because it was easier. Instead of using it for some sort of "demand," I felt that it set the tone of insanity that comes with trying to keep track of a lot of things at once.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this challenge! Irmz, watch for a message on your profile page to claim your prize.

Okay... Mine is simple, but finished! I wanted to use the ransom letters for my title, but I had just stuck the alphabet letters down and didn't want to start over from scratch. :) I think it adds the perfect embellishment to my page! Thanks for the great challenge today!
Here's Angela's layout: Makin' a Mess
