The Club CK Pinterest challenge is pretty simple: one of our designers
chooses five (or more) inspiring "pins" (images) from Pinterest, then creates
artwork based on one or more of them. Then it's your turn to take those pins
and create your own layout, card, or other paper-crafted artwork inspired by
the pins featured in this article.
This month's Pinterest challenge comes from Dream Team Member Linda Barber (learn more about Pinterest and Club CK Pinterest challenges).
Arrows. What's up with that lately? It's all over the place.
Movies like "Hunger Games", "Lord of The Rings", and "Brave" only increased
their popularity. I'm not sure if it's the summer camp vibe they give, the
retro feel thing, but they don't look like they are going away anytime soon.
Which is okay by me, since I love arrows. I have several
pieces of arrow jewelry, and a child who shoots arrows. But I do love a good
arrow or two or 50 on my layouts too.
Inpisration? One quick search on Pinterest, and you'll get
endless eye candy.
I love this word play using arrow to spell... ARROW.

More arrows as type.

A poster from famed design firm Pentagram.

A poster of arrows from mid-century geniuses Charles and Ray
Eames.

Bold, fun wall. (Seriously want to do this at home. Landlord
might not approve, though.)

Even Coca-Cola is into arrows.

This printable Valentine's is so adorable. I might try and
work one into a layout soon.

So when my family and I were driving from Palm Springs to
Joshua Tree National Park, I couldn't resist pulling over to take photos of
this giant arrow stuck in the ground. It was next an abandoned (or at least it
looked abandoned) building, and no one was around or I'd have tried to buy it.
Never mind it was four times the size of my car.

Giant arrow photo in hand, I created a layout that had
arrows, of course. I created those
arrows with border stickers. I cut smaller strips out of a long piece., folded
them to make them double thick. Cut the arrow shape with scissors, and stitched
them on with a sewing machine. Simple as that!

Now, I want to go back to Palm Springs. Yes, I want to try
and buy that arrow. I think it would be super cool sticking out of my backyard.
But again, I don't think the landlord would approve.
How do these images inspire you? We can't wait to see!
