July 2012 Scrapbooking from the Inside Out Challenge: Communication

Hi, friends! This is Rachel Kaufman, purveyor of emotion-based scrapbooking, with the next in a series of monthly challenges to encourage you to scrapbook about you - your thoughts, goals and dreams, your inner struggles, challenges and triumphs. Our beautiful new kit at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out, Communication, is the perfect match for this challenge, but you don't need a kit to play along. Just grab some of your stash and jump right in! We're giving you a good long while to dig deep with this one - a whole week! So mull it over, explore your feelings and create...I can't wait to see what you come up with!

So here's your deep and meaningful Communication prompt:

Can you point to a moment in time when you didn't say something you wish you had, or blurted something out that you later regretted? How did you feel about it during and afterwards? Were you able to make it right afterwards, or did you ignore it and hope that your words wouldn't have a lasting effect?

I know everyone has something to say about this one. Pretty universal experience, wouldn't you say?

To make this layout even more reflective of your feelings, we want you to add what we call the "design twist": using a visual representation to reinforce the challenge. For this month's design twist, please use a callout (speech bubble) or quotation marks in your layout.

A few of our design team members explored this concept in their layouts this month:

Nicole Martel is well aware of her own lack of a verbal filter. She's come to accept that part of herself.

Jen Matott, like most of us, has a hard time keeping her mouth shut at time when she knows she should.

Mary Jo Rhoda has learned that sometimes it doesn't pay to 'let 'er rip' every time - sometimes it's good to be the bigger person even though she'd like to say what she is feeling.

Diana Brodeur recalls a time when she blurted out something in anger that she would rather her children not have heard. She's learned from it to let moments breathe.

Scrap your communication gaffes or triumphs and feel better!

A winner will be selected randomly and will receive the Scrapbooking from the Inside Out Communication kit, an amazing prize filled with beautiful, fresh, and meaningful paper and embellishments! We apologize to our international friends but we can only ship to addresses within the United States.

The Communication kit is a kitschy and stylish mix of fun paper and embellishments to help you explore and express how you connect with the world around you.

In the era of quick and easy ways to touch base, how much time do you make to connect on a deeper level? Is your life enhanced by social networking or hindered by it? Do you walk your talk? Are you a good listener? Are there topics that are off limits?

Paper from October Afternoon, Echo Park Paper Co., Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker and Jillibean Soup provides the perfect symbolism with everything from vintage phones and paper airplanes to notepads, typewriters, cameras and viewfinder reels. Embellishments include a custom chipboard Polaroid frame, perfect for using as a stencil, mask or as a page element, Kraft paper circle garland, epoxy wood grain buttons, flags and banners and lots and lots of journaling stickers and cards. You'll also get a great stamp from Lawn Fawn and a long awaited Tim Holtz Distress Marker.

Every month Scrapbooking from the Inside Out creates a kit that uses the freshest supplies along with symbolism that will help you tell your real story. Our industry-exclusive, free Inspiration Page each month provides you with a multimedia support system, including deep journaling prompts, a music playlist, quotes, photos and evocative challenges to make your tender heart and creative mind and hands flow.
