Challenge deadline extended! See below for details.
All scrapbookers are storytellers: storytelling is what we do when we pair words with photos. Composing journaling to communicate the story through your scrapbooks is an important and rewarding part of the scrapbooking creative process. In this week's challenge, we're exploring new storytelling or journaling methods to spark your creative fire.
Numbers are a wonderful way to narrate your story. Think of unique ways you can use numbers to communicate, such as:
- the amount of money you spent on college
- the number ot texts you send to your children
- the hours you spend preparing meals
- important dates
- countdown to a milestone
- the address of a frequent destination
- the number of miles you drive to visit a loved one
Are you getting the idea? Good! Come up with your own unique list and see how numbers can tell your story in a unique way.
I started brainstorming numbers that would illustrate what 16 years with twins might be like, and I couldn't stop. I choose numbers that were relevant to their birthday and all the celebrating that goes along with it.
Now for the challenge. Create your own layout, mini album, or other storytelling project demonstrating how to use numbers to tell your story. One lucky challenge participant will win a spot in Ali Edwards's upcoming online workshop, 31 Things. I hope you enjoy your numeric storytelling journey!

31 Things Workshop Description
A 31-day workshop for $31
Class starts May 17, 2012
31 Things is an invitation to "see into the life of things." 31 Things is an invitation to document your everyday life in a way that includes descriptions and reflections. 31 Things is about capturing life right now but will be much more in-depth on a single daily subject than the documentation you might be used to. This is an opportunity to get more specific pieces of your story told with the goal of going more in-depth; get those pieces of your life documented with words. Writing these 31 stories will be the heart of what we do over the 31 days, but our words will be supported and inspired by a single daily photo and a bit of crafty decoration.
