National Scrapbooking Day - Use Chipboard on your Layouts (contest closed)

Hi Everyone, It's Piradee here today to share with you some ways that you can dress up those chipboard pieces to give your layout that little something extra.   At the moment, I'm in one of those "raw" modes, where I prefer to use the natural colors of the chipboard to accent my layout. However sometimes I feel that the chipboard is a bit too plain and therefore I'm always looking for ways to dress it up a tad bit.

On the layout below I dressed up some of the chipboard buttons using a stamp that only partially covers some of the surface and thus providing that contrast against the raw chipboards.

Down Under by Piradee Talvanna, as seen in 101+ Creative Ways to Use Your Scrapbooking Supplies, page 72.

On the layout below, I didn't want to alter the color of the chipboard and therefore opted to dry emboss some of the chipboard pieces to added that little bit of detail.

Our Home by Piradee Talvanna, as seen in the November/December 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, page 91.

Today I challenge you to pull out some chipboard accents, and add just a hint of pattern or texture, but let their natural color show through on a layout.

Fantastic idea Piradee.... I love how you use raw chipboard so often.

Great ideas for using plain chipboard.  I would have never thought to dry emboss it!

I love chipboard!  Thanks for the great ideas and a reminder to use it more.  I have a huge shelf that over-floweth with chipboard.  Thanks for all the great ideas.  I love your style also.

It doesn't show up too well in the photo, but, I embossed the chipboard stars with some swiss dots. I lightly inked the edges and added a gem to one of the stars.

Here is my lo: I used green flock on one set of chipboard letters and just doodled around the edges of the others

Love this idea and this looks especially great with the beach format.   I tried it with some stickey backed Post-it Paper and put some glitter on the stickey side that was curled out.  A little too much weight to properly curl, but I like the effect, none the less.

I never quite know what to do with unfinished chip board, but this is great-just use it as it is! I added some textured dots and a little white ink on the edges.

Here's mine:

Here's mine.  I loved the look of drying embossing on chipboard letters.  I would have never thought of doing this!

Here is my LO.  I used chipboard to highlight the title and the color photo on the page.  Just a few elements, but I think it really adds dimension to the page.  Thanks for the challenge!

Mine is kinda hard to see... My chipboard was white so I speckled it with spray ink.

Rushing to get my lo posted in time, I didn't say what I did to the chipboard.  I dry-brush painted it and inked the edges.
