One-hour challenge: Paper piercing

Punch it, pierce it, pop it, stick it.  No we're not talking about balloons. We're talking about a fun technique called piercing, so whether you prefer to pierce with a paper piercer or push pin it is easy to create great layouts with this whimsical skill.

Piercing on your layouts is a great way to create your own unique embellishments, and draw attention to certain elements on a page or around photos as well. My favorite paper piercer is from We R Memory Keepers - Brad setter/Piercing tool. Their ergonomic handle is comfortable to hold, the large cover is hard to lose and the heavier weight makes it easy to push through the paper. If you don't own a paper piercer and a push pin can't be found, you can make your own piercing tool with a sewing needle pushed through a pencil eraser.

In the Beach Beauty page below, I drew attention to the windy beach day by accentuating the wind element with paper piercing in the top right corner. I also pierced holes around the title in the lower corner and then again around the pink surfboard to create a fun point of interest on the page.

Beach Beauty by Annette Hardy

In the Life page below I used the piercing technique to highlight the fun circular element on the page by piercing right through the chipboard. Chipboard is fun to pierce through and simple with the right tool. So get that tool and punch something, piercing is a fun technique! Well, I have done a cute chipboard flower but haven't completed my LO yet. Took a pushpin and put holes all in the center. Really looks cute. Now I need to get my LO finished. But it's early yet, people are probably still working on theirs. Still have about 30 minutes and then the extra minutes for uploading. Might even get mine finished.

I just happened to have these photos and embellishments on my table ready to scrap! I decided it would be fun to pierce holes in the corner and then sand them to make them stand out!! Thanks for having a one-hour that I could actually do in an hour (actually half an hour)!!!

This LO was half way done so I decided to make my own button out of chipboard. I used my paper piercer from Tim Holtz and punctured 4 holes in a square piece of chipboard. A little bit of crackle paint, distress ink, and I had my own button to add on top of the flowers:

Here is mine. Man, the problems I've encountered. My printer card reader would not read my card. Had to work and work to get it to do that. Finally so here is what I have done. I will probably add more to this as clean and simple is not usually my style. I used a pushpin on the center of the flower. Neat! clubcreatingkeepsakes.com/.../495868.aspx

Dang it another great challenge with a GREAT RAK!!!!!!  I am in the stinking hospital though and have been since last Friday, doubt I will be home before the 14th.  This stinks, haven't been able to participate in the last few because of my health.  I am so sad :( I could use all of the stuff in this RAK, so many birthdays to do with nothing to do them with.  Oh, well hopefully next time.

Here's mine for the second prize.  I enjoy having the chance to do these challenges, even though I'm usually in class during the actual challenge!  It might be hard to see in the picture, but I punched little holes in the paper to show the butterflies "flying".  :)  Fun challenge!

As much as I would have loved to participate in the "live" challenge, 2 a.m. just was too early for me this week! :) Here's my take for a second chance. I loved paper piercing! This was my first time, but since it was so fun it certainly won't be my last!

I loved this challenge!  I started during the live challenge, but had to leave halfway through.  I finally got a chance to finish it this morning!  The paper piercing is around the heart in the title and under the rocketships ... sort of hard to see!

Sorry for the multiple posts here, still working out the details to do it, but I used a circle punch to do this layout and cut them in half and one thing I certainly learned was to start from the bottom and go up when placing them lol.
