Punch it, pierce it, pop it, stick it. No we're not talking about balloons. We're talking about a fun technique called piercing, so whether you prefer to pierce with a paper piercer or push pin it is easy to create great layouts with this whimsical skill.
Piercing on your layouts is a great way to create your own unique embellishments, and draw attention to certain elements on a page or around photos as well. My favorite paper piercer is from We R Memory Keepers - Brad setter/Piercing tool. Their ergonomic handle is comfortable to hold, the large cover is hard to lose and the heavier weight makes it easy to push through the paper. If you don't own a paper piercer and a push pin can't be found, you can make your own piercing tool with a sewing needle pushed through a pencil eraser.
In the Beach Beauty page below, I drew attention to the windy beach day by accentuating the wind element with paper piercing in the top right corner. I also pierced holes around the title in the lower corner and then again around the pink surfboard to create a fun point of interest on the page.

In the Life page below I used the piercing technique to highlight the fun circular element on the page by piercing right through the chipboard. Chipboard is fun to pierce through and simple with the right tool. So get that tool and punch something, piercing is a fun technique!
