3 Easy Sticker Techniques

Get More from Your Stickers!

It's time to look at your stickers in a new way. See how these three easy techniques will add a new look to your sticker stash!

--

Technique 1: Cut apart Border Stickers

Rather than place a border sticker directly to your page, cut it into sections and spread them across the layout. Jill Hornby added stitching to ground the cut-apart border pieces together in this "Bath Time at Mimi's" layout that originally appeared in the November 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

--

Technique 2: Outline Letter Stickers

You can add pizzazz to letter stickers by simply outlining them with a contrasting color on your scrapbook pages. On this "Early Snow" layout from the December 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, April Foster outlined the letters with pen.

Technique 3: Use a Label Sticker to Embellish an Album Spine

If you love mini albums, then you'll love this technique! Place a wide sticker around the spine of an album to dress it up. Beth Opel used a label sticker to enhance this album, which originally appeared in the November 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Thanks, CK, for reminding me that stickers DO still have value!  I need to pull mine out and start using them again.  I have a bunch of alpha stickers---will have to give the outlining trick a try!

I have taken old flat stickers from my stash and added Stickles to them to update them and add a little bling, then used them as the image on cards. Gotta do something with all those stickers from ten years ago! LOL!  ~Bev~

I like to add crystal effects to my stickers to give them an epoxy look.  You can get this product at Stampin Up.  You can also sandwich a paperclip between a little sticker and cardstock, and use it as a cute embellishment.  Just cut or punch out the cardstock to the size you want - - either showing a border around the sticker or the same size so it's hidden.

I like the idea skeeter wrote about using stickles on them - - I'll have to give that a try!  Thanks everyone for the ideas!!

I love stickers. One techiniques that I love is putting a little baking powder on the back of the sticker. It takes the sticky away and then you can pop it up (or use mulitiple ones to do a 3-d affect.) Another thing is to take the stickers and put them on solid white cardstock and then cut them out. It is a tedious process but you can then pop them up or keep them flat. The outline from the cardstock makes them look nice.
